Ryder’s Hill is a fairly featureless hill which is the highest point in the South Dartmoor area. It does however give fantastic views all around, especially northwards. The hill itself has a gradual gradient and is devoid of any drops or drama making the hill itself pretty bleak when on top in poor weather. Any long distance views though are pretty good. Parking at Venford Reservoir or Combestone Tor is a good starting out point for an ascent of this hill. There are no military firing areas around here.
