The tor sits in a commanding spot overlooking the centre of the Teign valley, it even has a nice bench to rest on and take in the view. The walk here is very simple indeed with the well used Hunters Path from Castle Drogo leading you straight here. In fact there is a fine walk which continues past this spot and on to Fingle bridge and round the other side, this walk can be found in the National Trust shop at Castle Drogo. The tor itself rises up from the valley in a similar way to the Dewerstone (near Plymouth) and the summit rocks hang out a bit into the gorge giving a lofty edge to them. There are no military areas near here.
