Uppacott Down is a hill sitting just to the south of the Teign valley. At its summit sits an ancient iron fort called Cranbrook castle. the views from here are pretty good, with Castle Drogo and the Teign valley to the north, Dartmoor and Cosdon Hill to the west and Butterdon Hill to the south east. The views are good in all directions. There is a good parking spot to the south of the summit at a road junction, with a trig point located on the junction, the path is obvious and leads you through a gate to the top. There are no firing ranges around these parts.
