Avon Head Mire

Sitting north of the Redlake area, Avon Head or Aune Head is a fairly boggy spot between Nakers Hill and Ryders Hill. There is a good path, the Sandy Way which runs east/west across this boggy ground, it is wise to stick to this unless you are wading!! The Sandy Way also provides a good way to get from Ryders Hill across to Nakers Hill and beyond. The Avon river starts at this point and runs south through South Brent and Aveton Gifford before reaching the sea at Bigbury on the south coast.
