Dodd

Our last walk in The Lakes before the long drive home to Plymouth, a decision was made to attempt a bit of a bogey hill for us in Dodd. Previously we had attempted an ascent and been monsooned off the hill by heavy rain!! We started out in sun knowing by tea rain was due but by that point we should be having tea in Keswick and getting ready for the journey. Surely we couldn’t get wet again!

Start – The Old Sawmill Tearooms
Route – Long Doors – Dodd – Long Doors – Old Sawmill Tearooms
Distance – 3 miles    Start time – Midday     Time taken – 2 1/2hrs    Highest Point – Dodd  502m
Weather – Sunny to start but the Dodd rain struck again on the summit!!

We spent 20 minutes or so sheltering in the conifers at Long Doors before setting out along the colourful path back to the tearooms
