Little Mell Fell

A much derided little fell this one, however for me it has its place. For those of us that have to drive hundreds of miles to get to The Lakes, fells such as Little Mell have something that loftier mountains cannot offer and that’s a quick walk to stretch the legs whilst bagging a Wainwright in the process. After a long drive, food shopping bought in Penrith a quick walk is needed especially after it had poured down until 2pm. The views ain’t bad either particularly towards Martindale and High Street.

The clear ascent up the side of Little Mell Fell, the boys are at the gate already too long cooped up!

Looking in the direction of Helvellyn on the descent back to The Hause, a decent little walk this one when you only have an hour for a walk or a short weather window
