East Dart Waterfall

Another walk that I have wanted to do for a while and one that didn’t disappoint. Pick a warm spring day after a little rain (not too much otherwise you cannot cross the waterfall) and there’s not a finer walk on Dartmoor. Starting in Postbridge, using the roadside parking opposite the pub, its an easy start across fields to the track up Hartland Tor. Be careful around the Beehive as the path vanishes over a stream and can take a bit of finding again!! The waterfall whilst not big is a lovely place to sit and ignore the world.

Start – Postbridge parking
Route – Postbridge Clapper Bridge – Hartland Tor – Beehive Hut – East Dart Waterfall – Broad Down – Postbridge
Distance – 6 miles     Start time – 11.30am     Time taken – 4 1/2 hrs    Highest Point – East dart Waterfall 480m
Weather – Hazy sun then clouded over towards the end
