Nearing the end of my stay in the Lakes and the weather has turned a little, meaning just two more short walks before I leave. Ling Fell is a very simple walk from any direction and is perfect for a day when cloud covers the higher fells, or you need a quick walk to keep your Wainwright total ticking on.

Distance – 1 ½ miles Start time – 2.45pm Time taken – 1hr Highest Point – Ling Fell 373m |

Brumston Bridge

As I walk up the road the views through to Embleton open up

On the Corpse road path now looking across to Sale Fell

Lake Bassenthwaite and Sale Fell

Embleton village on the right as I look towards the coast and Scotland

Higher up the path…

and into view comes the summit trig point

Ling Fell summit and Sale Fell behind

Skiddaw would normally be over there on the left but low cloud stops the views

Looking back to the summit and the ground that runs to the coast beyond

Broom Fell and Barf up in the clouds on the right

Wythop Moss and the dip of Widow House visible

Final look to Sale Fell

Heading back along the path to the road and the car, nice to tick another of these little Wainwrights off on a low cloud day
