Latrigg, Derwent Water and blue skies

As I reached my last day up here, the weather turns, what a lovely day. Blue skies everywhere. Packing up I headed off to Latrigg to catch the early cloud inversion and sunshine. The views were as good as I’ve ever had up in Lakeland. With good weather comes lots of people and the Gale road car park was pretty packed at 10am but I have a small car and squeezed in and headed off. Once I had seen all that was good on Latrigg I went down to Derwent Water to see if I could get some reflection shots across the lake. The blue skies and blue waters made for some fantastic photos with lots of people all around. A brilliant last day before I drove the long 400 miles home.

Starting out from the Gale Road car park with an inversion over Lake Bassenthwaite. Grisedale Pike on the left is the pointy fell with the fells around Lords Seat to the right

Glorious blue skies with Blease Fell up to the left and the Mell Fells in the distance

Yesterday’s walk, the Coledale Horseshoe. Grisedale Pike on the right with Crag Hill at the back (Grasmoor is also behind that), Sail, Scar Crags and Causey Pike running to the left, with Barrow in front

Too many fells to mention but what a view

The central ridge to the left of Derwent Water. Keswick down to the right

There was hardly any wind at this point and I can imagine there was some brilliant reflection photos down by Derwent Water

The summit is just up from the bench and viewing point, although the view does not get any worse up here

Just lovely on the summit

Into the sun and the Dodds and Helvellyn ridge

Borrowdale at the far end of Derwent Water, the high point in the centre of the photo is Scafell Pike

Behind Latrigg is Skiddaw, Skiddaw Little Man and Lonscale Fell, heading back to the car now

Now down at Derwent Water, looking across to the fells around Catbells

Its not bad is it

Geese and Catbells

The Keswick launch heads in front of Catbells

At Friars Crag it was predictably busy but in this weather you have plenty of time to grab your photos

The dark looking Causey Pike, where I was yesterday

Through the autumn colours to Grisedale Pike

Back at the Keswick landings and just one more photo

Alright maybe just one more. Its been a great week again up here. Now to get back to normality and start planning the next trip
