Castle Drogo and Sharp Tor

My second visit to Castle Drogo this year, this time I had a look around the castle as well as a short walk. The walk is one of the published walks available from the shop and is the very short walk of just over a mile. I also added on Hunters Tor as an easy extension as it would be rude to come all the way here and not visit. All in all an easy day out at a nice national trust property which will only get better once the work on the castle is completed.

The heather is starting to colour nicely. Castle Drogo can be seen with its tarpaulin above the trees

The Teign gorge on the walk to Sharp Tor

There are two main outcrops for Sharp Tor, I’m stood on one looking at that one!!

Looking the other way, the eagle eyed of you will see Hunters Tor at the end of spur running right to left

I’m on the Hunters path to Hunters Tor

The tor is at the end of the trees over there

Now on Hunters Tor I look back along the gorge

At this point I’ve climbed up the path behind Hunters Tor to just under Castle Drogo, you get an even better view of the gorge from here
